Identification
Up to 225 cm body length, shoulder height of 160 cm, weight up to 800 kg. Curved horns, small back hump. Female is beige-brown. Both sexes show white legs and rump. Males of this subspecies are uniform beige-grey.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from Myanmar to south Vietnam (scattered populations). The species is also found on Borneo and Java. Lives in open dry forests, dry and humid grasslands, in lowlands up to 2100 m.

IUCN RED LIST : CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species only occurs in small isolated populations. All subspecies have recently been uplisted to Critically Endangered because of habitat loss, hunting and hybridization with domestic cattle. The species occurs mostly in protected areas now.
