Identification
Adults can reach a body length of 30 cm, tail length of 26 cm and a weight up to 600 g. Very bushy and fluffy tail. Its coloration is mostly grey-brown and its underside light grey-white. Melanistic and leucistic forms are found.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in north America, from central and eastern south Canada to most of eastern half and eastern-central parts of USA. Subspecies found from southeast Canada to northeast USA. Lives in open woodlands, urban and suburban gardens, forests.
