Identification
The species grows to a body length of 18 cm, tail length of 13 cm and weight of 170 g. Bushy tail. Body grey-brown with grizzled grey-brown back, three clear lines on flanks separated by dark bands. Cheeks often with orange tinge.
Range and habitat
The species occurs from south China to east Myanmar, south Thailand and south Vietnam. Subspecies found in eastern Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. Lives in dry forests, woodlands, savannas and scrubland, rarely dense forests.
