Identification
Body length of 69 cm for a tail length of more than 80 cm and a weight around 6.7 kg. Face dark grey to black with roughly distinct clear markings around eyes and pink lips. Fur mostly light brown-grey, whiter on breast and belly. Dark brown cap and limbs with clear grey thighs and white whiskers. Dark tail.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from extreme south Thailand to most of Peninsular Malaysia. Species also found on Sumatra and Riau archipelago. It lives in primary, secondary and disturbed moist forests, sometimes even near cities as long as there is enough forest cover nearby. It is also found in swampy areas.

Status : The unclear taxonomic status of this species are related taxa makes it difficult to assess reliably its conservation status. However, we know that the species has been affected by extensive deforestation within its range. Populations on Riau and Sumatra could be severely threatened.
