Notes : No subspecies known. Sometimes 2 subspecies are recognized but now considered invalid.
Identification
Adults can grow to 76 cm in length for a tail length of 67 cm and a weight of 24 kg, males being twice larger than females. Coloration globally orange-brown, more grizzled on limbs. White tail. Reddish face with distinctive enlarged nose.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to the island of Borneo and is found in most of the island except from north central areas, both in Indonesia and Malaysia. Lives in riverine and swamp forests, coastal forests, mangroves, to 250 m.

Status : The species is highly threatened by habitat loss and overhunting. It is estimated that more than 70% of its total population has been lost in recent years.
