Identification
This is the largest living monkey species, reaching a body length of 110 cm, a tail length of 10 cm and a weight up to 33 kg. Unmistakable. Long and thick grey-brown fur, yellow on the underside. Face and rump very brightly colored.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in western equatorial Africa, from south Cameroon to west Gabon and southwestern Republic of the Congo. Lives in moist evergreen forests and old dense secondary forests, also plantations.

Conservation
IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix I
Status : This species is highly threatened by deforestation and hunting mostly for the bushmeat trade. These threats have kept intensifying in recent times.
