Identification
The species grows to 68 cm in length for a weight of 10 kg. Males not much bigger than females. Tail very short. Small grey cheek tufts, face skin black with very prominent ridge over eyes. Pelage dark grey-black, a bit lighter grey on limbs.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Indonesia, occurring only on the north-west of Sulawesi island, from the Isthmus of Palu, north-east to east of Gorontalo. Lives in primary and slightly disturbed rainforests up to 1800 m.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is largely understudied and its resilience to habitat change isn’t known. Threatened by deforestation within its entire range.
