Identification
Body length of 62 cm, tail length of 85 cm, weight of 8 kg. Slender built, very long and thin tail. Fur is entirely black, face and foot skin is also black. Conspicuous greyish cheek tufts. Black erected crest on top of head.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in central Africa and is endemic to the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the central Congo river basin. Mostly found in forests, including gallery and swamp forests.

Status : This species is little known from the wild but it is surely declining because of deforestation and both intensive and uncontrolled hunting.
