Notes : No subspecies known. A recent taxonomic arrangement has moved the species to a new genus Oedipomidas but since this arrangement isn’t followed by most online resources at this time, we choose to stick with the older arrangement.
Identification
Body length of 26 cm, tail length of 40 cm, weight of 417 g. Unmistakable. Back and flanks dark brown. Tail reddish-brown, becoming black. Face is bare and black. Breast, belly and limbs white. Conspicuous white crest and mane.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America and is endemic to North-west Colombia, between the Rio Atrato and the Rio Cauca. Lives in primary and secondary dry deciduous forests and scrublands.

IUCN RED LIST : CRITICALLY ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species has a very small range now and most of it is under pressure from agricultural activities and deforestation. Also vulnerable to trapping.
