Identification
Body length of 48 cm, tail length of 55 cm, weight of 1.6 kg. Black face extending to middle of forehead. White patches on sides of forehead and cheeks. Male is grey with rufous crown, female is rufous brown with dark crown.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Madagascar. It occurs in the west and east sides from Tsiribihina river to Toliara and from Onive river to Andringitra massif. Lives in primary and secondary dry lowland forests, moist lowland forests.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix I
Status : This species has a small range and is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, and illegal hunting which is a consequence of political unrest.
