Identification
Adults can grow to 48 cm in length for a weight of 6.4 kg. The darkest subspecies of the muelleri complex with arms, back, breast and belly dark brown to nearly black. Hands and feet clearer. Head blackish with curved white eyebrows.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia and is endemic to Borneo. This subspecies is found in most of the north of the island, in east Sarawak, Brunei, Kalimantan and Sabah. Lives in primary and secondary humid evergreen forest.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : This subspecies is endangered because of forest fires and deforestation, mostly for agriculture (palm oil plantations). Also caught for trade.
