Identification
The species can reach a body length of 45 cm for a tail of 55 cm and weight of 4 kg. Males larger than females. Slender-built species with bald pink face. White hairs around shoulders, breast and forehead. Rest of body hairs black.

Range and habitat
This subspecies lives in South America from Extreme east Panama to western Colombia and north-western Ecuador. The other subspecies is endemic to Gorgona island. Lives in primary, secondary and inundated forests, mangroves and dry forests.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species occurs in protected areas and remains locally common but it is more and more threatened by deforestation and illegal hunting.
