Identification
60 cm body length, tail length is 88 cm, weight up to 7 kg. Face is mostly black with pink areas. Fur rather short and mostly black with a silvery spot near genitalia.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in western Brazil (Amazonian part) and from north-east Peru to central Bolivia. Mostly found in lowland forests, primary, secondary and flooded.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is still common where not persecuted by humans. Occurs in many protected areas. Hunting and habitat loss are the biggest problems.
