Identification
Adults can reach a body length up to 80 cm for a weight of 6 kg. Each foot has at least three very long and curved claws. Rounded head with blunt nose. Coarse and stiff beige to gray-brown fur. Light face with dark markings around eyes. Conspicuous black and yellow back patch for males.

Range and habitat
The species occurs from Costa Rica and Panama to Colombia, south to Peru and Bolivia, east to Guianas and most of Brazil. Lives in many kinds of habitats including disturbed forests, up to 1200 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has a very large range and is still fairly numerous in most parts, including in many protected areas where it occurs.
