Identification
Body length up to 88 cm, tail length of 67 cm, weight of 8.4 kg. Long nose with very small mouth, longer ears, long prehensile tail. Coloration is dark yellow to beige with black middle and lower back extending on shoulders and hindlimbs.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in southern Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina. The species is also found from Colombia to Peru and most of Brazil. Lives in wet and dry forests, savannas and scrublands, often near rivers.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species occurs in many protected areas and seems to be relatively safe despite of intensive forest logging in many parts of its range.
