Identification
Body length of 222 cm, tail length of 100 cm, weight of 72 kg. Male is much bigger than females. Forelegs short, very powerful hindlegs. Fur is mostly dark brown to grey-brown with clearer throat, chin and belly. Dark grey ears. This subspecies is usually very dark brown-grey.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the southern half of Australia, from Shark Bay and from South-west Queensland. Also found on Kangaroo Island. Subspecies found in the southern parts of the range. Lives in dry forests, woodlands, shrublands and agricultural areas.

Status : This species has a large range and remains fairly common to locally common throughout. May become vulnerable to habitat loss in the future.
