Identification
Body length of 89 cm, tail length of 96 cm, weight of 23 kg. Fairly long limbs. Fur looks thick and soft, mostly dark grey-brown on back and head, turning grizzled grey on limbs, breast and tail. Long tail with thick fur and white tip.
Range and habitat
The species is endemic to the Island of New Guinea where it occurs around the Vogelkop peninsula and north-west coastal area near Geelvink bay. Lives in primary and secondary rainforest, from lowlands to 1400 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is still widespread but declining rapidly because of heavy hunting pressure and habitat loss. Occurs in some protected areas.
