Notes : 13 other subspecies known. A recent revision could limit the number of subspecies to three. Javan population could be elevated to full species status.

Identification
Adults can grow to a body length of 53 cm, tail length of 66 cm and weight of 2.5 kg. Coloration olive-brown with three longitudinal lines on back. Black feet, black head with white markings. Subspecies darker with little to no markings.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to north-east Borneo. Species found from Myanmar and Vietnam to Java, Sumatra and Borneo. Mostly found in primary forests, rarely secondary growth, to 1500 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a broad range but is dependant on primary forests which is source of concern with deforestation. Some populations endangered.
