Identification
Body length of 105 cm, tail length of 11 cm, weight of 13.7 kg. Fairly small species, small black ear-tufts, small cheek tufts. Ground coloration is light beige to rusty brown with more or less big blotches, sometimes just dark dots on whole fur.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in Texas and nearby north-east Mexico. The species is found from central and south Canada through most of the USA to north Mexico. Lives in forests, montane areas, agricultural lands, semi-deserts.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species still has a huge range and remains locally common but local declines and extinctions occurred because of persecution and trapping.
