Identification
Body length of 7.9 cm, wingspan of 40 cm, weight of 25 g. Fairly large bat with huge forward-pointing ears. Ears, snout and mouth orange-pink. Most of fur is golden-yellow to light beige-brown. Blunt pig-like snout.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in North America from extreme south Canada (British Columbia) to most of USA, Baja California (Mexico) and Cuba. Lives in semi-arid habitats with rocky outcrops, grasslands or shrublands.

Status : This species has a large range and is still relatively common in many places. It occurs in several protected areas. Vulnerable to pesticide use.
