Identification
Adults can reach 31 cm in length. Fairly small Arothron species with elongated body. Fins are dirty yellow with black edge. Body is light beige to greyish with relatively thick longitudinal brown to dark grey lines fading on their edges.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from South Japan and Philippines to Borneo, Indonesia, north Australia and eastwards to Tonga. Lives in shallow coastal areas (estuaries, lagoons, reef flats) to 20 meters deep.

Status : The species has a large range but is often caught both for the trade and as bycatch. It is also part of the pufferfish fisheries target species.
