Identification
Adults can grow to 239 cm for a weight up to 200 kg. Pointed snout, fusiform body with long dorsal, anal and caudal fins. Blackish-silvery blue color, turning yellow to silvery on belly. Yellow tinge on fins, bright yellow finlets.
Range and habitat
This species occurs worldwide, in all temperate, subtropical and tropical seas and oceans, except from the Mediterranean Sea. Lives in open waters, both close and very far from shorelines, to 250 meters deep.

Status : The species has a huge range but is caught in fairly large numbers as bycatch by fisheries, although it is more and more exploited these days.
