Identification
The species can reach 34 cm long. Body deep and short, huge upwards-oriented mouth. Coloration silvery with small black spots on base of dorsal fin and upper back. Black blotch under pectoral fin. Fins dusky to slightly yellowish.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Andaman sea and Thailand to Indonesia, Philippines, Solomon Islands and Fiji. Pelagic species, sometimes in estuaries, down to 200 meters deep.
