Identification
Slender species with small, thin, elongated snout. Coloration whitish with a tight network of black and yellow wavy lines on the flanks. Orange to yellow dots on back. Thin black stripe under eye.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from East Africa to Vanuatu, north to south Japan, south to north Australia. Found in shallow protected rubble and sand areas, down to 21 meters deep.

Status : The species faces loss of habitat on a local scale but is very adaptable and has a large range. It is collected for the trade but in low numbers. Rarely bred under human care.
