Identification
The species grows up to 2.75 m in length for a weight up to 122 kg. Large shark species with an elongated and narrow snout. Coloration dark grey to bronze-grey with dark band from gills to pelvic fins. All fins tipped black.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the subtropical and tropical coastal areas of the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans. Lives in continental and insular shelves, often near reefs and estuaries, to 100 m.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : Many of the species’ populations are being depleted as the species is considered very valuable by fisheries. Nursery habitats are threatened.
