Identification
Adults can reach a disk diameter of 50 cm. Disk is nearly perfectly rounded with pointed nose. Tail is short with a slight round fin at the end. Coloration is sandy beige to grey with darker beige mottling and round groups of clear spots.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, from Californian coasts to Panama. Lives in bays and beaches, over muddy and sandy bottoms, down to 91 m.

Status : The species’ abundance is subject to seasonal variation. Although it is probably locally subject to overfishing, it appears to remain stable.
