Identification
The species grows to 10,3 cm. No extensions over eyes. Body covered with small spines, Coloration bright red to dark brown with clear saddle-like markings on back. Conspicuous yellow and brown bands on pectoral and dorsal fins.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Indian Ocean, from the Persian Gulf to Yemen, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, East Africa, to Madagascar and the Seychelles. Lives in coral rich reefs in clear water areas, down to depths of 70 meters.
