Identification
Adults can reach a total length of 13 cm. Unmistakable. Two large yellow-edged black spots on soft part of dorsal fins. Two tentacles on sides of mouth. Coloration reddish-orange with broad dark vertical bands. Find also banded.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific region, from Mauritius and Reunion to Indonesia, east to Society Islands, north to South Japan, south to Scott Reef. Lives in coral rich reefs in clear water areas, down to depths of 40 meters.

Status : The species has a wide range and seems to remains at least locally common. Often captured for trade.
