Identification
The species will grow up to 40 cm in length. Coloration bluish-grey to light grey with crowded dark-edged golden-orange round spots on entire body and caudal fin. Dorsal and anal fins bluish-grey with golden lines on rays. Clear belly.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Western Pacific Ocean, from Cocos Keeling Island to Indonesia, Philippines, Caroline Islands and north Australia. Lives in clear lagoons, seaward reefs, shallow estuaries, to 40 meters deep.

Status : The species is locally common to abundant in its large range. It is only incidentally caught and is not targeted by fisheries.
