Identification
Short and high profile body, humped forehead, large silvery eyes. Two vertical red bars on gill coverts. Wide longitudinal orange bands on flanks. Yellow fins, red edge on dorsal and tail fins.
Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, from Sri Lanka and Maldives to Papua New Guinea, north Australia and Ryukyu Islands. Found in inshore bays and lagoons near reefs, on soft bottoms and seagrass beds.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is widespread and locally common. It isn’t directly targeted by fisheries and rarely caught for the trade. No known threats recorded so far.
