Notes : No subspecies known.
Identification
Thick lips, curved forehead, large eyes. Bluish-grey color, white belly. Numerous longitudinal yellow stripes on flanks, additional stripes on head. Fins yellow, orange pectoral fin base.
Range and habitat
Pacific Ocean, from Singapore to Ryukyu islands, Philippines, Solomon islands and Great Barrier Reef. Found in coastal reef slopes, sheltered reefs and deep lagoons, to 70 meters deep.

Status : The species has a large range. It can occur in big groups locally. Might be caught by fisheries for food, very rarely for trade.
