Identification
The species can reach 15 cm. Coloration silvery when young, darker and browner when adults with slight dark edging on scales. Bluish tinge to eyes. Broad dark anal fin base stopping before tail peduncle. All fins clear and spotless.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean, from south Florida and Bahamas to Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean sea, then south to Brazil. Lives in coral and rocky reefs with caves and ledges, from 3 to 30 meters deep.
