Identification
The species can reach 18 cm long for a weight of 125 g. Blunt snout, forehead weakly convex and flattened, broad tail peduncle. Coloration olive-brown to olive-grey, dark scale margins. Black dot on tail peduncle. White anal fin margin.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in western and central Africa, from south Mauritania and Senegal to DR Congo. Lives in stagnant and slow-flowing water bodies in forested areas.
