Identification
The species can reach 30 cm long. Short head, small mouth with protruding fleshy lips. Pronounced hump on forehead. Coloration creamy white with brown bands around head and long black band following dorsal fin on upper back.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the southeast Indian Ocean, around Western Australia, Kermadec Island and Easter Island. Lives in shallow and protected rocky reefs and sandy areas, to 20 meters deep.

Status : The species’ status hasn’t been assessed. It isn’t targeted by fisheries and is likely caught either as bycatch of for local aquarium exhibition.
