Identification
Adults will grow to around 12 cm. Slender body with pointed snout. Body color pink, lighter on belly, broad pink edges on caudal fin. Four indistinct orange vertical blotches on back, horizontal rectangular blotch on tail peduncle.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Christmas Island to Tuamoto Islands, north to South Japan, south to Great Barrier reef. Lives around drop offs and steep outer reef slopes, from 7 to 70 meters deep.

Status : The species is widespread, generally common and even locally abundant. It doesn’t face any threats at this time.
