Identification
Adults grow to 1,20 meters in length. Large head with huge mouth and gently sloping forehead. Pink-orange to reddish with round blue spots all over body and fins. Caudal fin with straight edge. Blue spots becoming longer near head.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from Thailand and Indonesia to Solomon Islands and Australia. Lives in protected coastal reef areas with coral and algae, to 100 meters deep.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species common in parts of its range. It is targeted by fisheries but so far this practice hasn’t caused any declines. Monitoring is needed.
