Identification
Adults can reach up to 10 cm in length. Elongated snout. Coloration light pinkish beige with alternating clear yellow and dark red longitudinal bands from snout to tail. Dorsal, anal and caudal fin with black tip and electric blue edge.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean, from Florida and Bahamas to Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean islands, Central America and Venezuela. Lives in deep recesses of coral reefs, from 3 to 45 meters deep.

Status : The species has a wide range and can be very common. The difficulty to access its habitat protects the species against collection for the trade.
