Identification
Adults can grow to 15 cm. Pronounced back hump when adult. Coloration light yellow to cream-white with broad vertical dark to light brown bands on face and flanks, middle band is broadest. Vertical blue lines and dots around face.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean, from Bermuda, Bahamas and Florida to Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean islands, Central America to Venezuela. Lives in rocky and coral reefs, also inshore murky waters, from 3 to 90 meters deep.
