Identification
The biggest mudskipper species, growing to 27 cm in length. Unmistakable. Big protruding black eyes above head. Body coloration yellow to clear beige with a broad longitudinal black band on each flanks, going from eye to tail. Dorsal fin with a broad silvery-white edge.
Range and habitat
The species occurs around southeast Asia, from Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia to Indonesia, Philippines and north Australia. Lives in lower reaches of rivers, estuaries and at sea, mostly in mangroves and mangrove forests.

Status : The species has a huge range. Besides habitat loss and water pollution in coastal and mangrove areas, there are no threats known to this species’ survival.
