Identification
Adults can reach 10 cm in length. Large head with thick lips and protruding eyes. Top of eye peduncles often clear. Coloration is beige to olive brown with small light blue dots on flanks. Dark transversal bars on back and upper flanks.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the north-west Pacific Ocean, from Korea and Japan to south China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Vietnam. Lives in estuaries in brackish water, level mudflats and freshwater tidal zone.

Status : The species’ status hasn’t been assessed so far. It is common in suitable habitat but pristine habitat is getting rare outside protected areas.
