Identification
Very small mudskipper species reaching barely 5 cm in maximum length. Coloration mostly mottled brown with dark spots on flanks and white vertical bands on lower flanks, sometimes turning into white dots towards middle of flanks. Brown fins with black dots and bigger black round spot on dorsal fin.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the eastern Indian Ocean and western Pacific Ocean, from Peninsular Malaysia to Indonesia, north Australia, Solomon Islands and Philippines. It only lives in mangroves, often in mangrove forests and near areas with dense vegetation.

Status : This species is a mangrove specialist and can locally suffer from habitat loss. At this time, the global population isn’t believe to be declining in an alarming way.
