Identification
Body color from dark olive-grey to light beige-olive with up to six black and blue-edged bright orange to pink-red longitudinal bands. Flattened snout. Yellow-edged black blotch on dorsal fin.

Range and habitat
Western Pacific Ocean, from western Australia to Tonga and most major west Pacific archipelagos, north to Taiwan. Found around turbid coastal reefs, over sandy and muddy bottoms.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a fairly large but scattered range. It is caught for the trade in fairly high numbers but this doesn’t seem to be a threat at this time. Habitat loss needs to be monitored.
