Identification
Adults can reach up to 9 cm in length. Dark eyes, large head with large mouth. Coloration is greyish-cream with faint barring and spotting on top of flanks. Black spot on pectoral fins axil. Blue-edged brown band on first third of body.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Myanmar and Andaman islands to Micronesia, south to Indonesia. Lives in estuaries and lagoons, on rubble and muddy bottoms, to 14 meters.

Status : The species has a fairly small range but remains common overall and not often caught for the trade. The health of its habitat needs to be monitored.
