Identification
Black pelvic fins with blue edge. Body color white with black lips, grey-black face band, two broad, slightly curved brown-black bands on flanks, joining on belly, broad band near translucent tail.
Range and habitat
Western Indian Ocean, from Red Sea to South Africa, to Mauritius, Réunion, Aldabra and Madagascar. Found around lagoons and inshore weed and sand flats.

Status : The species has a fairly large range. It could be locally vulnerable to habitat loss. Rarely trapped for the trade and not caught for food.
