Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 13 cm. Body is round in shape but laterally compressed. All fins are uniform bright yellow. Overall coloration is yellow with small bluish spots on face and faint pinkish center of scales on middle flanks.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in the eastern Indian Ocean and western Pacific, from Andaman Sea to North Japan, Fiji, Tonga and south to New Caledonia. Lives in deep lagoons and steep outer reefs crowded with gorgonians, to 45 m.

Status : The species is often collected for the aquarium trade but remains numerous. Could be vulnerable to habitat loss.
