Identification
Adults can grow to 23 cm in length. Gently sloping round forehead. Coloration is silvery white with seven broad vertical bands from forehead to tail. Inside black bands are pearly grey spots. Fins and tail are darker and slightly transparent.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-pacific area, from East Africa to Line and Tuamoto Islands, north to Japan, south to Great Barrier reef. Lives in shallow areas of lagoons and outer reefs, down to 3 meters.

Status : The species has a large range and isn’t often caught for the trade. No immediate threats faced as of today.
