Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Adults can grow to 10 cm in length. Body color dull yellow-beige to bright yellow on throat. Two thin orange to brown lines on flanks, small black dot on middle of tail peduncle. Two blue-edged orange zigzag bands near gill coverts.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from Malaysia to the Solomon Islands, Palau and Micronesia, north to south Japan, south to Australia. Lives in sheltered lagoons and reefs, from 3 to 25 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range but could soon be threatened because of habitat loss and pollution. Capture for the trade is less of a threat.
