Notes : No subspecies known.
Identification
Adults can grow to 12 cm long. Coloration pinkish-white with six red-brown stripes on flanks, three middle ones being the longest and widest. Red-brown spots on tail peduncle and around head. Very large iridescent blue eyes.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from the eastern Andaman sea to New Caledonia and Vanuatu, north to south Japan. Lives in coral reefs, near branching corals, from 2 to 20 meters deep.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a wide range and remains common. Its dependance on two coral species could make it threatened on the long term.
