Identification
The species grows to 19 cm long. Pyramidal body shape, laterally compressed. Coloration brown, blacker towards belly with two diagonal white bands behind face and on dorsal fin. Horn-like projections on forehead and above eyes.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Pacific Ocean, from Indonesia to Society Islands, north to south Japan, south to New Caledonia. Lives in deep lagoons and steep outer reef slopes, from 2 to 30 meters deep.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is widespread and doesn’t depend only on corals, making it less likely to be threatened soon. Dietary requirements need studying.
