Identification
Adults can reach up to 18 cm in length. Very similar to C. rostratus. Laterally compressed body with elongated and thin snout. Coloration silvery white with two vertical orange bands near head and one near tail. Fins yellowish.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Western Pacific Ocean, only around northern Australia, east to Great Barrier Reef, north to New Guinea. Lives in coastal coral reefs, at depths down to 30 meters.

Status : The species has a relatively small range but occurs in many protected areas. Its numbers are stable and it faces no known threats at the moment.
